Anubis, the son of Osiris and Nephthys, is portrayed here in his jackal form, though he is more commonly represented as a jackal headed man. Anubis attained his fame after conducting the first embalming in history on his father Osiris, whom was dismembered by his brother, Set. This granted Osiris immortality, and both father and son ruled of aspects of the underworld.

Canopic Jars were used to hold the organs of the dead after they were embalmed. The lids were commonly carved to resemble the four sons of Horus. The four organs housed by the jars were the lungs, the stomach, the liver and the intestines. Egyptians held no regard for the brain, which was discarded. The heart was left inside the body, to be judged in the afterlife.

The Egyptian deity Isis has been renowned for millennia as the greatest sorceress in all the universe. Now she will lend her powerful magic to you, and guard your most precious items. This deceptively clever statue is actually a jewelry/trinket box, wide and deep enough to hold several treasured possessions. It is carved with Egyptian imagery, and has twin winged Isis on the lid.

This lovely piece is a hand painted, cold cast resin. The box measures 6 1/2" high, and the storage area is 2" wide, 4" long, and 2" deep. One statue per box.

Maat was the deity who personified all the elements of cosmic harmony as established by the creator-god at the beginning of time. These included truth, justice and moral integrity, as well as established order and structure. Without Maat the whole structure of Creation would crumble and be swallowed up to the powers of Chaos.

Maat is shown as a lady, who wears an ostrich feather on her head. The feather is often depicted on its own, instead of a full depiction of the goddess. The hieroglyphs of her name represent the primeval mound upon which the creator-god emerged.

Description: In the Old Kingdom she was a war deity, invoked as a blessing for weapons, both for the soldier and the hunter. Often weapons were placed in tombs surrounding the mummy as protection against evil spirits. These weapons were consecrated to Neith.In the New Kingdom her association with funerary rites is even greater. She stands, along with Isis, guarding the funeral bier of the pharaoh. In the New Kingdom the mummy wrappings were considered the "gifts of Neith."In many stories Neith is found being asked to arbitrate between two sides, her combination of military prowess and impartiality renders her very similar to Athena.Worship: Cult centers in the Delta in the same area as Sobek, her son.

Obelisk, Cold cast resin Hand painted, 8 1/2" high x 2" square base.

From the Greek word meaning; "a spit". It is a monumental tapering shaft usually made of pink granite. Capped with a pyramid ion at the top. Obelisks are solar symbols similar in meaning to pyramids, they are associated with an ancient stone called BENBEN in Heliopolis. They were set in pairs, at the entrances of temples, and to some Old Kingdom tombs.

Serket is a protector Goddess for humans and the world order. She guards the jar that contains the mummified internal organs of the dead with Neith, Aishat and Nephtys. Serket is also one of the protectors of the four sources of the Nile river. She is positive in most of her attitudes, As a scorpion, she protects people from venom but can also sting if the occasion arises. This attitude of peace with an ability to attack characterizes people under her sign.

Cult Center: Ombos. In early in Egyptian history, Seth is spoken of in terms of reverence as the god of wind and storms. He was even known as the Lord of Upper Egypt. Horus being the Lord of Lower Egypt. It was Seth who stood in the front of the solar barque to defended the sun god Ra from his most dangerous foe, the serpent Apep. At this time, he seems to have had no conflicts with the cults of Isis or Osiris. In fact, he was part of the same family of gods, and married to his twin sister, Nephthys.

However, it appears the followers of Seth may have resisted the followers of Horus and the First Dynasty pharaoh, Menes, when he united Upper and Lower Egypt. This struggle for control of Egypt seems to be reflected in the mythology. By the Twenty-sixth Dynasty, Seth was the embodiment of evil. He was depicted with red eyes and hair. The ancient Egyptians believed red represented evil.
